The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance-Test (NEET 2021) is to be conducted on September 12 and the registration for the exam will begin from 5 pm on July 13. The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the government’s decision from his social media handles yesterday.

“The NEET-UG 2021 will be held on September 12 2021, across the country following COVID19 protocols. The application process will begin from 5 pm tomorrow through the NTA website(s),” says the tweet.

In order to ensure social distancing protocols, the number of cities where the exam is to be conducted is increased from 155 to 198, said Pradhan. The number of examination centres has also increased from 3,862 centres used last year.

The exam was earlier said to be held on August 1 but now deferred to September 12 now due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance-Test (NEET 2021) is the sole entrance examination for admission into undergraduate medical programmes like MBBS and BDS in India. The National Testing Agency, an autonomous body under the Union Government conducts the exam across the country.
