Study BDS in India
BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery, and it is an undergraduate professional degree program in dentistry. In India, BDS is a popular course that prepares students to become dental surgeons.
The BDS course has a duration of five years, including a mandatory one-year rotatory internship. During the first four years, students undergo academic and clinical training, while the final year is dedicated to the compulsory internship.
The BDS course in India is an undergraduate program that is considered the second choice for students after MBBS in the medical field. Students in this course learn about dentures, dental problems, and surgery. The course offers numerous career opportunities in hospitals, pharmaceuticals, and medical device manufacturing industries.
The Dental Council of India accredits dental programs, and BDS graduates play a crucial role in preventing, diagnosing, and treating dental diseases. With high demand among students, a BDS degree ensures a bright future in academia, research, government departments, and private practice.
Graduates can pursue postgraduate studies leading to MDS and can also opt for teaching careers, becoming professors or even Deans. Opening a dental clinic or working in public or private hospitals are viable career options, and BDS graduates enjoy high job placement rates and attractive salaries in both government and private organizations.
